This year the VC Hall Trustees intend to register the village hall land.   Many of you who have been in the village a long time will know that village hall land has been purchased in various pieces over the years, and at a time when land registration was not compulsory.  Our task now is to consolidate and formally record all these land transactions with Land Registry.    We know the work will be very expensive and our fund raising during 2008 will be geared towards paying the legal costs.

The work is complicated by the fact that we do not have the deeds to one small strip of village hall land - the small area of car parking to the left of the hall as you look at the building.  The legal term is that we are in "adverse possession" of that strip of land, and need to prove that it has been used by the village hall for many years.    Does anyone have photos of the hall which are at least 25 years old and which show that piece of land?    If so, we'd be very interested to see them.   Give us a call on 01949 844289.

So, not a terribly exciting project this year, but one I'm sure everyone will agree is essential for the future of the village hall and surrounding land.
