Folk at the Hall
Following on from the success of “The Mystery of Irma Vep” in November, LCC’s rural touring theatre programme, Centre Stage, brought an evening of folk to the village hall last month.
Reg Meuross, accompanied by Bethany Porter on cello, gave us all an evening to remember. Reg is a gifted singer/song writer with a quiet mellow voice. He sang songs telling stories of highwaymen and the Pilgrim Fathers alongside those with a strong poignant message, such as ‘And Jesus Wept’ about the First World War. There were many folk fans at the concert, and the applause was warm and genuine. I have to say audience participation was strong, with a particularly tuneful rendering of the chorus of ‘Its Me or Elvis.’
